there MUST be an entry commemorating the first day of internship!
i totally own at getting myself into awkward situations, seriously. the lady who interviewed me got on the bus after me, and sat next to me, omg. i couldnt be sure if it was her, so i was left feeling like a loser and not knowing what to do, except pick up my phone to msg for help haha.
after a while, i got slightly annoyed cos i felt obliged to not eat my chocolate cake in the bus, in case she really was my interviewer, and i didnt wanna look like i was blatantly breaking the law, cos it's inappropriate. haha shucks.
tmr, i will take the later bus, since she says i can go into the office 15-30 minutes later, phew. and i will go on the upper deck, just to be sure. i dont believe i will be so lucky, twice. in a row.
the time before lunch taught me the fabulous art of multitasking. i was really really occupied: sms-ing, msn-ing, fb chatting, and skype-ing while self-learning the ropes of MAC computers all at the same time. 4 communication methods with different people regarding different things, beat that. IM COMPLETELY COOL.
(though everything barely had to do with work, HAHA.)
speaking of self-learning how to use MAC PCs, i was stumped at the right-click function. and i totally needed to know how to right click, cos i wanted to find a nice msn display pic from my fb photos to replace the default dragonfly pic HAHA.
but im slowly getting the hang of it :). if i become an Apple fan, everyone please pool all your financial resources together and get me a macbook for my bday k, HEEHEE. the front of my fujitsu has been severely abused, in addition to a feeble attempt to plaster it using a Beyond postcard, haha. not to mention that it dies after barely 30 mins, sheesh.
and then, i gradually realized in awe that everyone could remember my name, and also that im slowly becoming everyone's assistant. the max was having to rush out 5 writeups of 5 countries (one of them was lijiang, GUOFENG'S LIJIANG LEH, how coincidental!) with an introduction, visa requirements and must-see attractions. she told me at 430pm, explained for 15 mins, and said she needed it at 530pm.
it's not only copying and pasting okay, i had to edit it too.
she added another country just 4 minutes before 530pm (skype scares me now), and i finished everything half an hour late.
u know, i heard that they recently sacked an intern mainly cos she did the most ridiculous thing of dozing off right in front of the boss. and then that got her into trouble with her school and she incurred disciplinary action.
so i think, tomorrow i should tone down a lil on my 4 communication methods. HAHA.
working life is a completely new ball game from school. and believe it or not, my sister is the one and only person i reflected to. haha omg we actually talked. maybe cos now we're both working, got similarities, haha.
now im glad and really grateful i still have two more years in smu. i do remember saying at the start of uni that smu forges circumstantial friendship ties among people compared to jc, but working life is a trillion times worse man, sheesh.
can't wait for dance on wednesday now :). my arms are aching from i-dunno-what yesterday though, i only remember pretending to hold an umbrella -_-. but i hope i master back walkover soon, SLURPS.
